Feature Article: Internship Reflections

After spending last summer with us, one of our Interns took a moment to reflect on his journey, which we share with you here:

Dear Twin Eagles Community,

As I return home after my Internship journey with Twin Eagles this summer, I can’t help but reflect on all the magic and medicine I encountered as a member of the Twin Eagles community. It is truly one of my life’s greatest honors to have been welcomed into this magical & mysterious village and I will cherish the experiences we shared and the memories we made for the rest of my life. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the wonderful culture that you have co-created and it fills me with inspiration and belief in the more beautiful world my heart knows is possible.

My time as an intern at Twin Eagles was truly life-changing! It offered far more than I could have imagined, providing me with a wealth of knowledge, a deeper connection to myself, and a renewed sense of purpose and direction in my life. The connections I made with both community and the land were soul-nourishing, deepening my sense of intimacy with everyone and everything around me. The mentorship I received and the lessons I was taught have completely shifted my perspectives on life, have pushed me to my personal growth edge, and have instilled in me a sense of awareness and depth I hadn’t known before.

The experience not only deepened my understanding of wilderness survival but also taught me how to inspire others through deep wilderness immersion, storytelling, and true connection with nature. The impact this community has had on me will stay with me forever, and I am now inspired to use what I’ve learned to make a meaningful difference in my own community. Twin Eagles gave me the sense of purpose and direction I didn’t even know I was seeking, and I am deeply grateful for the profound impact it has had on my life.

Environmental Education Internships I continue to carry this inspiration with me every day as I do my best to integrate everything that I’ve learned into my life back home in Colorado and allow the Twin Eagles magic to saturate my very being. Thank you all so much for receiving me into your community and making me feel so welcomed, valued, and loved. I am looking forward to returning to Twin Eagles in 2025 to continue my mentorship journey alongside you all. I am sending you all my love and I hope you all have a lovely winter!

In Community,

Aidan Power

We're grateful that Aidan joined us last summer and look forward to his return this coming summer!

Girls Rite of Passage

For 13 - 16 year old girls
Thursday May 1 - Sunday May 4, 2025
JDK Ranch, Valleyford, Washington, Washington

Girls Rite of Passage The journey from childhood to adolescence is a dramatic time of development. Just like the fledgling bird that leaves the nest, the Girls Rite of Passage is an opportunity for girls to expand their wings and begin to take flight. It's a crossing. A place where two roads meet. Those two roads are where your daughter was once a child and is now emerging into adolescence.

This program is a coming of age ritual that has been taking place since humans have been on the planet. These types of traditions are common throughout the world and across cultures. It's a unique blueprint that stands apart from every day ordinary life and at the same time, brings new depth, understanding and meaning to it.

It's a time to really be present to your journey as a mother and to that very special gift in front of you - your daughter.

Father-Son Wilderness Program

Thursday May 22 - Monday May 26, 2025 (Memorial Day Weekend)
Medicine Circle Eco-Retreat - Priest River, Idaho

Father Son Wilderness Program Imagine taking five days with your son(s), and connecting deeply with nature and your boy(s) through ancestral wilderness survival skills, all within a small "tribe" of other fathers & sons that are like minded with similar values. During this program, we'll make fire by friction, build and sleep in natural shelters, learn traditional hunting and gathering techniques, and track wild animals. Primitive wilderness survival isn't a "Man vs. Wild" scenario, it is an opportunity to build a deep relationship with the Earth. As you and your son do so, you'll find that your relationship with your son deepens in powerful ways.

Twin Eagles Wilderness Skills Instructor Training Program

10 Days: Wednesday May 28 - Friday June 6, 2025
Adults 18+. Motivated older teens considered on an individual basis.
Camp Stidwell, Sandpoint, Idaho

Wilderness Skills Instructor Training Program

Are you yearning to build confidence in wilderness skills?

Do you wish to cultivate your nature connection mentoring skills?

Are you seeking a community of like minds & hearts?

Twin Eagles Wilderness Skills Instructor Training Program is a ten day intensive that provides adults a rich opportunity to immerse themselves in the teachings of the Earth and develop themselves as nature connection mentors. Wilderness survival, wildlife tracking, wild edible & medicinal plants, naturalist training, bird language, nature based mentoring, outdoor leadership, and inner tracking become pathways to a transformational journey of deep connection with nature, community, mentoring, & self.

This experience will give you the chance to slow down and embrace time-tested, ancient practices of connecting deeply with nature and earth based approaches to education that we've been successfully facilitating for nearly twenty years. You'll steep in a culture of nature based mentoring with peers that will feel more like family by the end of the experience. You'll be guided by experienced, gifted, open-hearted mentors to discover your authentic self.

In a fast paced world that is increasingly fostering disconnection, this opportunity is designed from the ground up to holistically develop resiliency, a sense of place, confidence, vision, peace, meaning, leadership, mentoring, and connection. It is an opportunity to build relationships with what is truly important in life.

The Twin Eagles Wilderness Skills Instructor Training Program is for adults with a passion for nature, community, mentoring, and self-discovery who are ready to transform from yearning for deep connection to nature and mentoring, to living a life of deep connection with nature and mentoring.

"Wow! My cup is so full with inspiration and connection. I have deepened my own connection with nature and I'm excited to facilitate deeper connection for young people. This experience was a beautiful blend of nature knowledge, spiritual attunement and community building. I can confidently say that by doing this program I am taking a step in creating the culture I want to live in."
