Twin Eagles Wilderness School
eNewsletter - July 2017

Hello from all of us here at Twin Eagles Wilderness School! We're grateful to be thriving during the fullness of summer. Serviceberries, bunchberries, and huckleberries are ripe, white tail fawns are getting big, bucks are in velvet, and the yellowjackets are here. It seems that all the wild creatures are seeking out the cool water and shade right now in the heat of the summer.

July has been a big month here at Twin Eagles, we've had 120 kids at our summer camps this month alone! There have been many moments of deep connections with nature, bonding with one another, and discovery of self. Take a look at our summer camp update below for more info!

Here is what we have in store for you in this months eNewsletter:

Summer Camps 2017 Update

Twin Eagles Wilderness Adventure Summer Camps are thriving this year! We've already had hundreds of kids exploring rivers, sloughs, meadows, ponds, forests, and creeks, celebrating the glory of summer as they learn real skills like flint and steel firemaking, debris shelters, practical medicinal plants, and wildlife tracking skills. All of this, of course, held in a container of traditional mentoring culture including spellbinding storytelling and songs rich with lineage. They have taken a journey of awareness and connection, resulting in joy and gratitude as they come home dirty, exhausted, and deeply satisfied. We have just a couple summer camps left this season, take a look if you're interested, and sign up now while there is still space!

Here are a few quotes from this summer:

"My daughter absolutely loved her week at nature camp. the counselors clearly cared about the kids and shared tidbits of what happened each day, which was great since my daughter was often too tired to relate much! i so appreciate the teachings of being still and silent and part of their environment through games and truly child-friendly and accessible ways. this experience is invaluable. we can't wait for an opportunity to do more."
                  - Cheri Tilford

"My son LOVED this camp. He did not really know what to expect the first day, but the staff put him at ease right away. Every day I picked him up filthy, tired, and smiling from ear to ear. Best of all, I have not heard a word about Minecraft all week! He has been practicing his skills at home, and he is already excited for next year's camp. We will definitely be signing him up for the monthly refresher camp."
                  - Scott MacPhee

"Loved this camp! My boys learned so much and were so excited to go to camp everyday. Thank you for giving them such a positive experience."
                  - Jamie Lake

"These are great people! My son is not excited about trying new things (which is why I really wanted him to do this camp). By Friday, he was asking if he could just keep coming. He's so proud of the cool things he learned. When we went to the lake, he was looking out for poison ivy, adventuring farther than usual, teaching his (older) sister about knife safety and I know he has great memories. Will be doing again next year!"
                  - Christopher Helm

This summer we are offering thirteen full weeks of summer camp in Sandpoint, Coeur d'Alene, Spokane, and Priest River. They include:
This summer we are continuing our inspirational theme based day camps here at Twin Eagles! 2017 Day Camp themes include:
  • Nature Adventurers Day Camp - Mystery and adventure await all those who heed the call of the wild. Have you ever looked out onto a wild landscape, and imagined all the possible natural adventures, just waiting to be experienced?
  • Wilderness Survival Day Camp - There is an ancient calling deep in the heart to experience the freedom and adventure of living wild and free, close to nature - to provide for one's own needs directly from the Earth...
  • Nature Ninjas Day Camp - Nature ninjas are the eyes and ears of the tribe, protectors of the village. They are masters of stealth, camouflage, and invisibility, traveling unseen and unheard amongst the shadows...
